We recently got in a car accident with a semi truck. The tire blew out on the semi as we were driving behind it (yes, we had proper distance from the truck, we were just about to pass it!). The damage all appears to be cosmetic, but we do hear weird noises when we try to break, but it is not a consistent noise. Mind you, this is a Prius Hybrid car, so they make noises that are drastically different than a typical gas fueled vehicle.

My first question is, can we assume that the insurance company from the semi-truck is going to take fault? Especially when the police officer confirmed we were driving at a safe distance away from the car?

In addition, the semi drivers insurance company insists that we get two quotes. We got one quote from the dealership we bought the car from for $3,600 worth of damage. We do not want to get more than one quote because we do not want just any Joe Shmoe to unhook the battery and repair a hybrid (which I am told has to be done for ANY repair to prevent electrocution). Our plan is to submit the one quote and inform them that if they want another quote, they can have their adjuster come out and assess the damage. Does that seem like a good plan?

Lastly, we feel unsafe driving the vehicle, is it fair to demand we would like a rental car immediately?

So, to recap, these are the questions:
1). Can we assume that the insurance company from the semi-truck is going to take fault since we would have never got in this accident had the tire not blown out?
2.) Can they make us get more than one quote? Instead of a 2nd quote, we are going to suggest that they have their adjuster estimate the damage.
3.) Is it fair to demand we would like a rental car immediately?
Also, as far as the rental, the truckers insurance company has stated they will pay for a rental if we need it. I just want to know if we can demand getting one BEFORE we actually repair. Since the car feels unsafe to drive. Thanks!

I am with Esurance car insurance and I want to lodge a complaint somewhere about thier services. It seems that every time I phone for info on a quote or why my bill is constantly increasing every few months I get different answers. The agent I talked to today of course they don't have record of thier agents giving me the wrong info over and over, and they don't want to go back into the phone records.

I am debating getting a Camaro. I am 17, and I've done some searching around for insurance quotes, and so far I've been getting either around 170-200 a month, or...900 a month lol. As long as my insurance is no more then 200 a month, I will pretty easily be able to afford a Camaro. I am just wondering, does this price for insurance sound pretty reasonable for a 17 year old with a Camaro? Also, are these good cars, fairly reliable?
Sorry, I should specify, I'm not buying a new 2010 Camaro. 94-01 are the years im' looking at.
